Memories always come back. Those of my childhood, those of my Italian tradition. Memories related to the ladies who gathered in the afternoon at grandma’s house to clean the vegetables, crumble the oregano or take care of the dried tomatoes. I remember a phrase they often repeated: “if you’re hungry, there’s nothing better than seasoned bread”.
The most important ingredient? The Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The inspiration came immediately: a FRISELLA (round slice of durum wheat bread) flavored with basil. A simple and traditional dish that has never been missing from our tables and enhanced by the aroma of Vallarella extra virgin olive oil flavored with basil is what gave the touch of excellence to my frisella.
INGREDIENTS FOR THE FRISELLA
● 4 frisellea (round slice of durum wheat bread)
● 200 g of cherry tomatoes
● 1 mozzarella fiordilatte
● Basil
● Salt
● Pepper
● Raspberry vinegar
● Vallarella’s extra virgin olive oil flavored with basil

Cut the cherry tomatoes into 4 pieces and season it with basil-flavored oil, a tablespoon of vinegar (preferably raspberry flavor) and a little pepper, put it all in a bowl and leave in the refrigerator for a few hours or even overnight. When preparing the frisella, salt the tomatoes, cut the mozzarella, chop the basil and remember that “when you’re hungry, there’s nothing better than seasoned bread”.
Let yourself be inspired!
